5821 Fairview Road, Suite 500
Charlotte, NC 28209

After graduating from the University of Virginia and managing a retail electronics store, John decided to attend the Wake Forest University School of Business and Law School where he earned an M.B.A. and J.D. in 1994. The decision to go to law school was easy as John simply followed in the footsteps of his father and uncle.

John’s father is the Honorable (retired) James C. Cacheris, who served as a federal district court judge in the Eastern District of Virginia who had several decisions upheld by the Supreme Court. John’s uncle was the late Plato Cacheris, a prominent criminal defense attorney who handled many high-profile cases, including Watergate, Iran-Contra, the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal and “moles” inside the CIA and FBI. John was fortunate to serve as a clerk for Plato during his law school years.

After earning his J.D. and M.B.A., John clerked for the late Honorable Charles R. Richey, a federal district judge for the District of Columbia. Through his clerkship John had the privilege of working on several cases with national interest, including redistricting or “gerrymandering,” and the attempted assassination of then President Clinton.

John is married, has two children and a French bulldog named “Max.”  Max allows John and his wife to live with him at Max’s home in uptown Charlotte.  In his spare time John enjoys playing the guitar, road and mountain biking, general exercise, hiking, and the arts.

As a former business owner and manager of a retail store, John understands first-hand the challenges facing business owners. With his diverse background, and over twenty-five years of legal experience, John brings a multi-faceted approach to solving problems facing business owners. John has experience in many areas of law, including:

  • Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Business Formation
